Imparting education and creating better beings from it, is the soul purpose of education and such is the story of Dr. Bidisha Chakraborty who has been honoured with Teaching Excellence Awards 2019 (TEA - 2019) as Excellent Teacher. TEA - 2019 was an effort of MT Research and Educational Services (MTRES) in association with Buzzingg and Upalabdhiyan to recsognition the best teachers for their special contribution in respective domain.

Dr. Chakraborty is currently the Principal at NAMI College (Naaya Aayam Multi-disciplinary Institute), Kathmandu, Nepal. She did Bachelor’s in Physics (Honours) in 2006, Master’s in the field of Environmental Science and Ph.D in Environmental Monitoring & Management. She has been actively engaged in the field of rainwater quality analysis with emphasis on heavy metal analysis and rainwater harvesting technology during her 5 years of Ph.D.
She worked as a DST INSPIRE Fellow from 2011-2015. In 2016 she was selected for the position of Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Management at Royal Thimphu College. She later left this college and joined as a Principal at NAMI College in affiliation with globally acclaimed University of Northampton. She has been associated as a member of numerous reputed organisations as well as engaged as a reviewer in many Environmental Science Journals. Due to her amazing specialisation she has the following professional achievements:
1st Class (Gold Medalist) in M.Sc Awarded by Assam University, Silchar
Young Scientist Award by Venus International Research Foundation in Environmental Management
International Women’s Award in the category Young Women in Science by Venus International Awards
Dr. Chakraborty has planned, prepared and delivered instructional activities that create an environment where students are actively engaged in learning experience along with identifying and adapting teaching resources in order to meet the varying needs of students with different learning abilities, learning agilities and special education needs. She has offered plans for enhancement in which students are encouraged to be engaged in the learning process. She believes appropriate disciplinary measures are deemed to be taken when necessary alongside participating in training programs and educational courses to keep up to date with new teaching methods, new developments and teaching resources.
She has also been involved in volunteering activities. Volunteer to United Nation under Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to promote environmental sustainability. Volunteer to STEM.org.uk to promote science and mathematics South East Asia.
For popularizing Science and Technology among the masses, Dr. Bidisha Chakraborty along with her husband Mr. Saikat Chakraborty, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, Nilai University, Malaysia has initiated and launched their own You Tube channel Saikat Grothendick 55555 and website stemformasses.com in May 2019 in order to promote Science & Mathematics in South East Asia.
She always initiated, organized and implemented an instructional program to work closely with parents and community to maximize their involvement in college activities and to ensure development of more resourced for college. She has tutored students from different countries, ethnic backgrounds, races and religions. Her skillset includes Sustainable Development, Biological Wastewater Treatment, Sustainability, Environmental Protection, Water Quality Analysis, Solid Waste Management and Waste Water Quality.
Dr. Chakraborty follows Dr Walter Lewin’s method of eccentric teaching and students love it, she wishes to the part of one of the best educational institute/research of the country and contribute to the development of the country. She has publications in many National/International Journals and Conferences along with attending Conferences/Workshops. Some of her paper publications are in International Conference on Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Health, participation in International Conference on Global Ecosystems, Biodiversity and Environmental Sustainability. She has participated in workshops such as Workshops on Techniques in Biodiversity Researches, Remediation of Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soil, Basic Statistics and Research Data Analysis. She is the member of International Association of Engineers, International Society for Environmental Information Sciences (ISEIS), Bhutan Ecological Society, Institute of Natural Science and Advanced Technology (INSCIAT), International Economics Development Research Centre (IEDRC), The Asia Society of Researchers (ASR) and HIGHSCOPE.
The path from dreams to success does exist. Someone just needs the vision to find it, the courage to get onto it and perseverance to follow it. Dr. Bidisha Chakraborty has a vision to become an Eminent Teacher/ Administrator in a reputed institute. We can learn from her that we are not here merely to make a living, but in order to give out more to the world, in many distinguished fields and making this place a better one. We must enrich the societies so as to make this world a better place and ensure development of our people in the field of education.
