Developments in the field of Physics propel the nation forward through the tenfold impact created in various related fields of technology. People who bring about such developments must be recognised and duly honoured. Prof. Ranjana Jha of NSUT, Delhi is being recognised for her contribution to the field of Physics and is being awarded with the 2nd MTRES Research Excellence Award. Prof. Ranjana Jha is currently working as the Head of the Department of Physics, NSUT, Delhi. She is the founder and in-charge of Research Lab for Energy Systems at the Department of Physics. Her research interests are solar energy materials and solar energy utilization, development of nano-structured thin film solar cells and characterization of energy materials for device applications. She is an extremely knowledgeable, affable, and well respected teacher to students of first year at her university. She has guided several projects including development of solar car, solar rooftop power house at the university.
Prof. Jha did graduation from Patna University in 1980 in the field of Physics (Hons.), Chemistry & Maths, post graduation in Physics from Patna University in 1983, and Ph.D in Solar Energy Utilization from Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi in 1991. She worked as a Junior Research Fellow at AIIMS, Delhi from 1984 to 1985, an RA at CES, IIT Delhi from 1988 to 1992, and then started working as a lecturer at NSUT (formerly NSIT) Delhi in 1992. She has published 08 papers in National Conferences, 68 in International Conferences, 05 in National Journals, and 34 in International Journals. She has been serving as the project in-charge of NSUT Solar Car since February 2009. She was also the Chairperson of the Committee for Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Working Women. She has also been nominated as University Court member of NSUT.

She received the International Education Award for being the most promising female professor for Physics in a technical institute for the year 2018 by Time Cyber Media Pvt. Ltd. She has been awarded the certificate of Outstanding Reviewer twice (2014 and 2016) by the Solar Energy Journal, Elsevier. She received Certificates of AEIS Series as the Co-Chair Organization Committee of ICEOMN, 2019 held at Singapore.

Prof. Jha has delivered several lectures and talks related to Solar Energy Technologies in various educational and research institutes as well as various national and international conferences. She is a Life Member of various learned societies such as Solar Energy Society of India, Indian Carbon Society, NPL, New Delhi, International Association of Advanced Materials, Sweden, and Institute of Environmental Eco-toxicology and Environmental Sciences, India. She is also the Gold Member of International Multidisciplinary Research Foundation. She has published 115 manuscripts in reputed national/international journals and proceedings. She has undertaken several research projects from AICTE, DST, PCRA, MNRE among others. She has received grants for her noble projects. She has one patent (Design Of A Novel Trailing Arm Suspension System With Type One Lever Mechanism,Patent ID-201611042722, Publication No.-25/2018,IPC Classification-F01N11/00) in her credit. Her long list of achievements isn’t limited at all and she is working diligently to take her country to extraordinary heights. Her contributions to the field of Physics, especially solar energy developments are immense.
